Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an absorption liquid for carbon monoxide, having a high CO absorptive capability at ordinary pressure and at ordinary temperature the absorptive capability thereof is not lowered even when contacting with water with respect to CO absorbability by using cuprous chloride and an oxygen acid derivative as components for the absorption liquid.
CONSTITUTION: A CO-containing gas is directed from a raw material line 11 to an absorption tower 2 where the gas is brought into contact with an absorption liquid containing cuprous chloride, the oxygen acid derivative of phosphorus, e.g. phosphate, etc., and a metal salt other than those of Cu in order to selectively absorb and remove CO, while the treated gas is discharged from a line 21. The CO-absorbed liquid is heated in a separating tower 3 through a heat exchanger 4 from a line 31 or reduced in its pressure to release CO. The gas containing a high concentra tion of CO is removed of its entrainment component and then recovered as a product gas from a line 41. And, the absorption liquid deprived of CO is returned from a line 51 to the absorption tower 2 for reuse.
