Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate and concentrate CO from crude CO gas containing O2, in high efficiency, preventing the lowering of the capacity of the absorbent liquid caused by O2, by heating the metal existing in the absorbent liquid and oxidized with O2 in the gas in the pesence of CO, thereby reducing and regenerating the metal.
CONSTITUTION: A CO-containing gas is if necessary pretreated (1), and introduced into the absorption tower 2, in which CO is absorbed. When the CO-containing gas contains O2, the metal such as cuprous ion in the absorbent liquid is oxidized to cupric ion. The exhaust gas from the absorption tower is discharged to the atmosphere. The CO-absorbed liwuid is sent through the heat exchanger 4 to the reducing tower 5, kept at ≥60°C, and if necessary, blasted with CO gas through the CO-gas line 51. The cupric ion in the absorbent liquid is reduced to cuprous ion. The absorbent liquid discharged from the reducing tower 5 is introduced into the separation tower 3, in which CO is released from the gas by raising the temperature or reducing the pressure. The exhaust gas from the separation tower 3 is subjected to the removal of entrained mist, and taken out as the product through the gas line 41. After separation of CO, the absorbent liquid is returned to the absorption tower 2 through the line 61, and reused.
