Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In the recovery of C-O solvents, e.g., ketones, esters, etc., by absorption by activated carbon, a humidifying gas is supplied to the activated carbon for humidifying the activated carbon when the recovery operation is stopped, i.e., when the flow of gas is stopped. Then, because the latent heat of evaporation in the activated carbon becomes greater than the heat of oxidation reaction of C-O solvent, the abnormal temperature rise in the activated carbon, i.e., the occurrence of fire accident, can be prevented without lowering the efficiency of recovery.
