Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the water content of lime used as a slag making agent for steel manufacture by dehumidifying the air fed to the cooling section of a lime furnace with a liq. absorbent and to reduce the thermal unit of the furnace by recovering sensible heat of hot quick lime.
CONSTITUTION: Hot combustion gas or air released from lime furnace 1 is introduced into heat exchanger 2a for heating an absorbing liq. On the other hand, the absorbing liq. such as an aqueous lithium chloride soln. in tank 4b is fed to dehumidifying section 3 and brought into contact with air fed by product cooling fan 3d to dehumidify the air to 8g-H2O/Nm3-air, and the dehumidified air is supplied to furnace 1. When the water content of the absorbing liq. is increased, part of the liq. is fed to exchanger 2a, heated, and passed through regenerating section 2 to separate and strip water. The liq. is then returned to tank 4b. By this method, the water content of quick lime discharged from furnace 1 can be adjusted to ≤0.5wt%.
