Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the output of a fuel cell to be rapidly stopped, by connecting inactive-gas supplying pipes, which blow an inactive gas into a gas-circulation loop when the supply of a reaction gas is stopped, to the vicinities of the inlet and the outlet of a gas chamber. CONSTITUTION:An inactive-gas supplying pipes 11 and 12 for injecting an inactive gas, which both are connected to the outlet side of a pressure controller 5, are connected to the vicinities of an inlet 61 and an outlet 62 of a cell 6, respectively. A high-pressure inactive-gas supplied from a supplying valve 4, whose pressure at the outlet side of the controller 5 is maintained approximately constant by means of the controller 5, passes through the supplying pipes 11 and 12, and is supplied into a circulating path from both the inlet side 61 and the outlet side 62 of the cell 6. If the inactive-gas supplying valve 4 is opened according to an output-stop instruction, a reaction-gas supplying valve 1 is shut.
