Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the cylinder reduction driving by a simple construction by providing a fuel cut-off valve for cylinder reduction in a suction path of a distribution type fuel injection pump of a Diesel engine.
CONSTITUTION: A rotating and reciprocating plunger 6 is arranged within a plunger barrel 5, and the fuel is compressed in a pressure chamber 13 formed at the tip end of the above plunger 6. The fuel is introduced into the pressure chamber 13 through a suction path 11, first and second suction ports 21 and 22 and a suction path 23, and the compressed fuel is supplied to a fuel injection valve (not shown) through a distribution groove 15, and an exhaust port 16. First and second ports 21 and 22 are communicated with cylinders which are not subjected to cylinder reduction driving or those subjected to cylinder reduction driving. Furthermore, first and second electromagnetic cut-off valves 25 and 26 are arranged in respective ports, the rotational speed and the like of the engine are detected to perform the opening and closing of these valves and to perform the fuel cut-off to the cylinder to be reduced.
