Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent fresh air from directly passing through an exhaust port by providing a change-over valve in a passage through which a pressure accumulator chamber provided above an engine body communicates to a cylinder and an exhaust port. CONSTITUTION:A change-over valve 18 is provided in a communication section between a pressure accumulator chamber 15 and first and second passages 16, 17. A valve port 22 of the change-over valve 18 interlocked with a crank-shaft 14 in the descending stroke of a piston 12 communicates to the pressure accumulator chamber 15 and a cylinder 4 to introduce a portion of high pressure gas into the pressure accumulator chamber 15. Further, the change-over valve 18 is rotated by the further descending piston 12 to intercept the passage 16, open successively exhaust and scavenging ports 6, 7 and introduce fresh air from the port 7 into the cylinder 4. When the piston 12 is shifted to the ascending stroke, the change-over valve 18 permits the second valve port 23 to communicate to the pressure accumulator chamber 15 and the port 6 and jet high pressure gas in the pressure accumulator chamber 15 into the open end of the port 6 against the flow of exhaust.
