Abstract

Internal combustion engine comprising at least one cylinder (1) and one piston (2) mounted on a crankshaft, each cylinder comprising at least one inlet valve (6) and one exhaust valve (7). At the end of the cylinder (1) corresponding to the top dead-center position of the piston (2), two conduits (10 and 11) are provided communicating with a second cylinder (9), a second piston (12) being arranged in the latter to define two chambers (13 and 14) each of them communicating with the cylinder (1) through one of the above mentioned conduits. Injection means (15 and 19) and ignition means (16) being arranged in the chamber (13), shock absorbing resilient means (22) under a predetermined tension of a stop (25), are interarranged between the control (20, 17) and the rod (23) of the piston (12), the latter delimiting the chamber (13) in synchronisation with the flow rate of the injection pump (19) through the control means (20, 18, 17, 23) so as to obtain the combustion of a portion of the fluid freely inlet in the cylinder (1) with a constant pressure compression ratio.
