Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to determine L-amino acid simply and exactly by attaching treated microorganism to carbon dioxide electrode, after treating epecified microorganism having decarboxylase activity of L-amino acid to be determined with organic solvent and/or surfactant.
CONSTITUTION: Activated bacteria 2 which treated specified microorganism with organic solvent and/or surfactant, are attached to dissolved carbon dioxide electrode diaphram 1 to make it microorganism electrode 7. The microorganism are bacteria belong to genus of Esherichia, Citrobacter, Clostridium; Ascomycetia blong to Aspergillus genus; or active bacteria are one kind of yeast belong to Rhodotorula genus and having decarboxylase activity of L-amino acid to be determined. This electrode 7 is immersed into a solution to be tested or contacted therewith under an anaerobic condition and the produced electromotive force of the microorganism electrode 7 is measured thus determining L-amino acid.
