Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove organic pollutants adhered to the surface of a membrane almost completely by washing the selective permeable membrane smeared with organic pollutants with a cleaning liquid containing sodium percarbonate and/or potassium percarbonate.
CONSTITUTION: An organic pollutants-adhered selective permeable membrane, e.g., reverse osmosis membrane, ultrafiltration membrane, etc., is washed with a 0.005W 1mol/l aqueous solution of sodium percarbonate and/or potassium percarbonate. The selective permeable membrane applicable to this method includes cellulose acetate membrane, polyolefine membrane, polyamide membrane, etc. In the washing operation period when the permeable membrane is brought into contact with the cleaning solution for about 10min to several hours at pH of 9 or more, a negligible deterioration occurs in the membrane used. The cleaning of the membrane is usually performed by dipping or passing it in or through the cleaning solution under pressurized condition, etc.
