Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain stability of discharge working to the shape of an electrode and the change of the quality of materials of a workpiece by a method wherein fixed control factors are successively altered, and the optimum value, in which a rate of generation of effective discharge becomes maximum, is obtained and the value of the control factors is controlled so as to become the optimum value. CONSTITUTION:Control factors, such as, set voltage, a duty factor of pulses, a hunting period, pressure of a working liquid, etc. are changed in order, and a discharge condition between an electrode 2 and a workpiece 3 is discriminated by means of a discriminating circuit 4. A rate of generation of effective discharge is detected 8 from output of the discrimination circuit 4, and the maximum value is discriminated 9. Each control factor is probed and set 16-19 by output of a probe clock 10 and the discriminating circuit 9. The optimum value is memorized to memories 12-15. The value of the control factors is controlled so as to become to the optimum value and the workpiece is discharge-worked. Arcs are simultaneously detected 5, and the arcs are avoided by separating the electrode 2 or by stopping pulse voltage at that time. Thus, the workpiece can stably be discharge-worked continually and efficiently.
