Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption ratio of an electrode independently of a machined area and improve machining efficiency, by automatically decreasing the peak current and width of discharge pulses when the production ratio of normal discharge falls to a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:When it is detected by a comparator 9 that the rate of acceleration due to the increase in a machined area becomes lower than an initial electrode feed speed stored in a memory circuit, a flip-flop 14 is set by a signal applied to an OR gate 12. A signal produced by a pulse generator 16 is supplied to the positive input terminal of a reversible counter 17 through an AND gate 15 and a decoder 18 acts to increase the peak value by a peak current change-over circuit 19 and the pulse width by a pulse width change-over circuit 20. When it is detected by another comparator 4 that the production ratio of normal discharge falls below about 80%, the flip-flop 14 is reset and the AND gate 15 is turned off and the output signal of the comparator 4 is applied to the negative input terminal of the reversible counter 17 to subtract one pulse from the contents of the counter. As a result, the circuits 19, 20 are returned into their one-stage-preceding stable states and machining is performed.
