Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically control machining conditions such as machining liquid pressure except for pulse conditions to optimum, in accordance with instructions from a program controller which changes the pulse conditions depending on the depth of machining. CONSTITUTION:Machining pulses are applied from a pulse power source 3 to an electrode 1 and a work 2 and machining liquid is supplied through a nozzle 9 to perform discharge machining. Pulse conditions corresponding to the depth of machining from its beginning are programmed in a program controller 4 to supply the power source 3 with instruction signals for a peak value current value A, a pulse width B, a peak voltage C, etc. When a signal from a discharge state detection circuit 5 and a change signal etc. from the program controller 4 are applied to a machining stabilization control circuit 6, the optimal values of the other machining conditions such as the machining voltage U, duty factor tau and machining liquid pressure P and searched out to supply optimal control signals.
