Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the breakage of equipment at the breakout of slab by detecting the internal stress of the slab between a rotary continuous casting machine and rolling mill groups and opening or stopping screw-down rolls at the time when detection value exceeds the specified value.
CONSTITUTION: When large internal tension is generated in a slab 8 at the breakout, a frame 19 is rotated and displaced, causing the detection value of a load detector 22 to change. The detection value T of the detector 22 goes through an amplifier 25 and is compared and operated with the reference signal T0 of a setter 26. When the detection value T exceeds the signal T0, emergency open valves 28, 29 are operated by an emergency control machine 27, by which the pressures of the hydraulic cylinders 30, 31 of rolling mill groups are released to release the pulling force being given to the slab 8 by the rolling mill groups. In addition, control valves 36, 37, 38 are operated by a hydraulic control machine 34 to open pinch rollers 13 and screw-down rolls 17, 18 and further the respective drive motors of the rotary continuous casting machine 1, rollers 13 and screw-down rolls 17, 18 are stopped by way of a control machine 39 of drive motor.
