Abstract

PURPOSE: To operate the continuous casting machine extremely efficiently by forecasting the occurrence of breakout from stick phenomena (galling phenomena) and controlling the operation of the continuous casting machine based on this forecast.
CONSTITUTION: When any seizing phenomenon occurs between a mold 20 and shell 26, the collapsion of the normal vibration patterns of a mold 20 is detected by a vibration detector 52. And it is decided that this vibration pattern is a precursor for the occurrence of breakout in a vibration pattern decision operator 60 and the control signal is output from the operator 60 to a driving control part 62. Next, based on this control signal, the control part 62 applies the control signal to the electromagnetic valve 24 of the hydraulic system, that is, hydraulic cylinder 22, of a sliding gate 16, to temporarily throttle the gate 16, thereby so controlling the system as to wait for the recovery of the seizing phenomenon.
