Abstract

PURPOSE: To deodorize a malodorant rapidly and efficiently by a method wherein substance containing malodorous components are contacted with a neutral or alkaline water solution containing hydrogen peroxide under the existence of activated carbon.
CONSTITUTION: A malodorous gas is let pass through a pre-treatment filter 2 by means of a ventilator 3, and introduced into a gas washing tower 4 after removing dust. The malodorous gas in the tower 4 passes through a spray header 15, and passes through an activated carbon layer 16 while being absorbed to a neutral or alkaline water solution containing hydrogen peroxide, and the gas, which malodorous components are removed, passes through a mist separator 18, and is discharged outside a system through a flue 19. A treated liquid 17 collected at the bottom of the tower 4 is returned to the spray header 15 trhrough a pipe 10 by using a pump 9 and reused as a used liquid is discarded outside the system from a discharge pipe 13 while supplying new absorbent and oxidizer from tanks 5, 6 through pipes 11, 12. Thus, malodorous components are rapidly removed without employing an unnecessary oxidizer.
