Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the capacity of cell as well as raise discharge characteristics by using a positive electrode with manganese dioxide active substance mixed with amorphous carbon as a dielectric material having more than a specific surface area of particles. CONSTITUTION:Amorphous carbon particles as a dielectric material, having a specific surface area of 800m<2>/g or more, are added to manganese dioxide as an active substance to form the positive electrode. The preferred amorphous carbon- manganese dioxide ratio is 1:99-9:91 by weight, and the preferred kind of the amorphous carbon is the one having a specific surface area of 800m<2>/g or more, preferably 1,000m<2>/g, obtained from a furnace incomplete combustion method using oil, gas, etc. In this case, where sufficient conductivity can be maintained by using the amorphous carbon of a specific surface area more than 10 times those of the conventional carbon powders, the amount of the carbon powder to add can be reduced greatly, the ratio of the active substance can be increased, the cell capacity can be increased, and the discharge characteristics can be raised.
