Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a crystal oscillator excelling in the temperature properties by using the twist oscillation and the 1st or 2nd higher harmonic of the flection oscillation for the main and secondary oscillations respectively and securing more than 10-fold resonance resistance for the secondary oscillation compared with the main oscillation for coupling to the main oscillation. CONSTITUTION:The electric, mechanical and optical axes of the crystal ore are referred to as X, Y and Z respectively. And the crystal plate featuring the plate face of face XY' formed by giving the theta-turn to face XY round the X axis, and then crystal oscillator main body 6 is cut out so that the tuning fork arm may be turned toward the Y' axis. Electrode 7 and concavity 9 are provided to oscillator 6 and the fixed area of the tuning fork arm respectively, and then plug 8 is provided to form a crystal oscillator. For this oscillator, the twist oscillation and the higher harmonic of the flection oscillation are fiven to the main and secondary oscillations with the thickness of the tuning fork arm set to a proper value. Thus the combination is secured between the main and secondary oscillations. The length from the root of the fork arm is set to 1, and concavity 9 is provided within the range of 0.65-0.85 in the case of the secondary oscillation of the flection 1st higher harmonic and 0.85-0.95 in the case of the flection 2nd higher harmonic respectively. As a result, the resistance of the secondary oscillation becomes more than 10 times as high as the main oscillation, thus preventing the frequency jump at the time of the temperature change.
