Abstract

PURPOSE: To readily perform double exposure by negative image and positive image by providing a device of performing exposure with positive images and a device of performing exposure with negative images after this to a photoconductive photoreceptor which is chargeable to both polarities.
CONSTITUTION: If exposure of positive images 18 is performed simultaneously while positive charging is being accomplished with a charger 9, the resistance value of a photocondcutive photoreceptor layer 16 corresponding to the portions 18a, 18b of the positive images 18 become low and there is no induction of charges to the surface 3a of a recording medium 3. On the other hand, the resistance value of the photoreceptor surface 16 corresponding to 18c is high and therefore the positive charges of the surface 3a remain intact. Next, the charger 13 is maintained at a negative potential and when light beams are radiated only to the region R, only the resistance of the photoconductive photoreceptor layer 16 of the region R becomes low and the resistance of the other regions remains high. Hence, the region R becomes of a slightly negatively charged state and on the other hand, the regions P and Q are largely negatively charged. In this way, double exposure by the negative images and positive images may be readily accomplished.
