Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain a high heat transfer performance, by providing steam guide plates for directly conducting a part of steam to rows of dropped cooling water.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling water is introduced into a reservoir 26 through inlet ports 25 and sequentially sprinkled down through trays 29a, 29b. The half cooling water at the upstream side of the steam flow is atomized by the steam flowing over the steam guide plates 34. The other half cooling water at the downstream side of the steam flow comes into direct contact with the steam which flows under the steam guide plates 34 without coming into contact with the former half cooling water. The latter half cooling water is thus atomized, too. At that time, heat exchange is performed between the cooling water and the steam. The cooling water whose temperature is raised because of the heat exchange is reserved in a hot well 30 and then drained through an outlet pipe 33.
