Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out effectively and stable the layer separation at double layered bed countercurrent regenerated ion exchange tower by passing a regenerant through a tower packed with two layers consisting of a weakly ion exchange resin layer and a strongly ion exchange resin layer, regenerating only the weakly ion exchange resin and then carrying out layer separation and back wash of whole resin.
CONSTITUTION: Water for back wash is introduced from liquid dispersion-collection mechanism 13 disposed at the interface between a weakly ion exchange resin layer A and a strongly ion exchange resin layer B, and discharged from a liquid dispersion-collection mechanism 11 at the upper part of a tower to the outside of the tower. Then, the resin layer A is allowed to stand, and a regenerant is introduced from the liquid dispersion-collection mechanism 11 at the upper part of the tower and discharged from the liquid dispersion-collection mechanism 13. The amount of the regenerant introduced is equal to the exchange capacity of the resin layer A of the upper layer part. Successively, washing is carried out in the same manner to regenerate the weakly ion exchange resin layer A of the upper layer part. Then in order to loosen the strongly ion exchange resin layer B of the lower part, water for back wash is introduced from a liquid dispersion- collection mechanism 14 and discharged from the liquid dispersion-collection mechanism 11 at the upper part of the tower, thereby the whole layers at the ion exchange resins A and B are back- washed.
