Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent ion exchange resin layer from fluidizing and becoming imperfect in regeneration treatment by flowing balance fluid from the upper part of an ion exchange tower at the time of regenerating the ion exchange resin in the tower by sending ascending flow of regenerating liquid. CONSTITUTION:Strong electrolyte ion exchange resins 2 and weak electrolyte ion exchange resin 3 are placed on the lower supporting bed 9 in an ion exchange tower 1. In this tower, water is refined to pure water, and when the treating capacity of the ion exchange resin degrade, regenerating liquid is put from a regenerating distributor 10 provided in the supporting bed and is passed as ascending flow in the resin layer, whereby the resins are regenerated. At this time, balance fluid such as air or water is flowed from the fluid inflow pipe 15 provided in the upper part in the tower 1. This balance fluid and the ascending regenerating liquid are gathered in a collector 4, and are discharged through an outflow pipe 5, whereby the ion exchange resin layer is prevented from being fluidized by the ascending liquid of the regenerating liquid and the regeneration treatment of the ion exchange resins is accomplished perfectly.
