Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a small recording head good suitable for high-speed recording, by causing liquid expansion to recording media in a liquid chamber by thermal energy from a heat-generating body and allowing droplets of the recording media to be discharged (or jetted) from an orifice. CONSTITUTION:Recording media 4, whose pressure is adjusted by a pump 2 and whose flow is adjusted by a valve 3, are heated by supplying voltage pulse, in accordance with recording input, from a voltage pulse supply mechanism to a heat- generating body 6 which is soaked in the recording media 4, and then the recording media undergoes such a change as liquid expansion or foam generation. And droplets 9 are jetted from an orifice 8 to form an image on a paper 10. Since the heat- generating body 6 is immersed in the recording media, efficiency of heat conduction to the recording media 4 is high and the recording media 4's thermal response is extremely quick, and therefore, the recording media 4's droplet-generating efficiency is satisfactory and high-speed recording is achievable at low energy consumption. And further, since the entire mechanism is simple, the recording head itself can be made in a small size.
