Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable rapid printing, by providing a fluid diode between the ink reservoir and pressure chamber of an ink-on-demand-type inke head so that the forward direction of the diode extends from the ink reservoir toward the pressure chamber. CONSTITUTION:An ink-on-demand-type ink jet head comprises an ink reservoir 201, a pressure chamber 202, a nozzle 203, etc. Two passages are provided between the ink reservoir 201 and the pressure chamber 202. A fluid diode is defined by the interaction of both the passages 204, 205. The passage 205 is so designed that the fluid resistance to the flow of ink from the ink reservoir 201 toward the pressure chamber 202 is smaller than that of the nozzle 203. As a result, the ink is smoothly supplied from the passage 205, the counterflow of the ink in the nozzle 203 is little, the restoration time of meniscus is shortened and the operation of the head is accelerated.
