Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate an refill of ink to the typewriter by a method wherein a spare ink cartridge is installed in an ink-on-demand type typewriter with a power supply of dry battery which is small in size, light in weight and low in its power consumption. CONSTITUTION:Variation in pressure is generated by ink liquid 3 guided by the ink tank 1 under an application of signal to a piezoelectric element 2, the ink liquid drip 5 is injected from the ink liquid discharge port 4 toward the recording paper 7. Ink jet head 6 and the ink tank 1 are moved in a direction of X by a drive means 12 along with the ink liquid discharge port 4, a printing and one line printing as collective dots of ink liquid drips 5 are performed on the recording paper 7. Line feeding is performed by a specified amount of paper feeding drive unit 5. Spare ink cartridges 22, 23 and 24 are installed in a margin of the typewriter having the above mentioned constitution.
