Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare red phosphorescent particles uniformly coated with red pigment particles, by forming α-Fe2O3 red pigment particles in the presence of red phosphorescent particles.
CONSTITUTION: Oxygen is introduced into a dispersion of a red phosphorescent material and chemically precipitated Fe(OH)2, to oxdize the Fe(OH)2 to α-Fe(OH)3. After separating the phosphorescent material and α-Fe(OH)3, the mixture is calcined at 250W750°C in an oxidizing atmosphere, and the α-FeO(OH) attached to the surface of the red phosphorescent material is converted to red oxide (α-Fe2O3).
USE: Cathode-ray tube for color TV.
