Abstract

PURPOSE: Yellow type pigment free from environmental pollution, obtained by blending zinc oxide with titanium oxide and iron oxide in a specific composition ratio, calcining the blend in a specific temperature range, followed by grinding.
CONSTITUTION: Zinc oxide is blended with titanium oxide and iron oxide (e.g., Fe2O3, Fe3O4, etc.) in a ratio to give a composition shown by the formula (2n+m) ZnO, nTiO2, mFe2O3(0<n/n+m<1). The blend is calcined in a temperature range from about 800W1,100°C. The blend is then ground into particle size suitable as pigment. Consequently, yellow type pigment having color tone 4YR-10YR, lightness 5W8, and chroma 6W12 is obtained.
