Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the reproducibility of images and obtain the visible images of good gradation characteristic by changing the field intensity to the gap between a toner carrier and electrostatic latent image holder in the specified mode.
CONSTITUTION: A selenium photosensitive belt 21 is formed with electrostatic images which are fixed and transferred. On the other hand, a toner carrier 22 is driven by a roller 23 and the toner is defined of its coating thickness to 50μ by an elastic member 26 and is given negative charge prior to development by a corona charger 28. The belt 21 and carrier 22 are maintained at 300μ of the gap therebetween by the roller 31. A voltage is superposed to a low-frequency alternating voltage applying power source 29 from a high-frequency voltage applying power source 29'. As a result, in the relations between the alternating voltage waveforms to be applied and the latent image potentials, the latent image potentials are made image part potential 700V, non-image part potential 200V and the low-frequency voltages are made to the square waves of maximum value 800V and minimum value -1000V, to which the voltage of frequency 5kHz and amplitude 600V is applied.
