NEW MATERIAL:Threo-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-serine ethyl ester and its acid- addition salt.
USE: A carcinostatic substance having remarkable activity, low toxicity and improved endurance.
PROCESS: For example, the desired compound is prepared (1) by directly ethyl- esterifying threo-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-serine or (2) by ethyl-esterifying a compound expressed by the formula (R is an ordinary protective group for the amino group of an amino acid which can be removed under mild condition, e.g. H, benzyloxycarbonyl, tert-butoxycarbonyl, trifluoroacetyl, etc.) and thereafter removing the protective group.
