Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A lower alkanoic acid derivative expressed by formula I (Ra 1 is hydroxy, halogen, nitro, amino, 3W8C cycloalkyl aryl or aryloxy which may be substituted by halogen; R2 is H, halogen or lower alkyl; R3 is carboxyl or protected carboxyl; Ya is S, O or CH2; A is lower alkylene, however, Ra 1 is a group other than halogen when R2 is H and Ya is S or O) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: 2-Oxo-5,6-dichloro-3-benzothiazolineacetic acid.
USE: A preventing agent and remedy for diabetic complication, e.g. diabetic cataract, neuropathy, retinopathy and renopathy.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II or a salt thereof is reacted with a compound of formula III X1-A-R3 (X1 is acid residue) or a salt thereof.
