Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy and to reduce the size by using optical converging glass fibers as an objective lens in a meter which is composed of a light source, a lens, a light receiving element and a signal processor.
CONSTITUTION: The light 12 coming from a light source 11 such as a light emitting diode or a laser is focused as the spot image of the light source 11 upon a test piece 14 by means of optical converging glass fibers. The reflected light from the test piece 14 is focused as the optical sport image upon a light receiving element 16 by second optical converging glass fibers 15. The light emitting element 16 is a photo-detector of such a diffusion type as has its current analogly varied in accordance with the position of the spot image. By processing the signals which have been photoelectrically converted by the element 16 the displacement of the test plece 14 is displayed in a signal processor 17. If those optical converging glass fibers are used the lens having a short focal length shorter than 1mm which has been difficult to produce, so that the whole construction can be reduced in size.
