Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the specific consumption of fuel, by decreasing the output loss of this internal combustion engine by switching a pump for circulating a cooling medium and a fan for a heat exchanger ON-OFF in response to the temperature of the cooling medium detected by menas of a temperature sensor. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a cooling medium of this internal combustion engine 1 is detected by means of a temperature sensor 6. When the temperature is not more than set temperature, a pump 2 and a fan 4 are stopped by deenergizing an electromagnetic clutch 5. The cooling medium naturally circulates along flow paths 8, 9, 10, and flows between a heat exchanger 3 and the internal combustion engine 1. When the temperature of the refrigerant is high temperatures higher than set temperature, the pump 2 and the fan 4 are driven by energizing the electromagnetic clutch 5, and the refrigerant is forcedly circulated, thus improving cooling effect.
