Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out coating at a high efficiency, by oscillating an electrode made of a coating material in the direction it becomes into or cut of contact with the material to be coated, and in the direction perpendicular to the above described direction so as to conduct coating and polishing simultaneously.
CONSTITUTION: An electrode 1 made of a coating material is arranged facing to a material 9 to be coated and is oscillated in the direction of Z-axis by electromagnets 4 so that the electrode becomes into or out of contact with the working surface of the material 9. During coating, the electrode 7 is oscillated in the direction of X-axis which is perpendicular to the Z-axis simultaneously with the oscillation in the direction of Z-axis. In that case, the electrode works as a grind-stone, polishing the surface of the material 9 to be coated, i.e., coating and polishing by electric discharge are achieved at the same time, so that the surface of a coated layer which increases at a high speed is worked plainly.
