Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the flucturations in the molten metal level in casting mold and prevent the production of various kinds of defects of products by correcting the relative relations between the bar members of the walking bar type slab guide device and slab by the specified method based on the results of the molten steel level detection in the casting mold. CONSTITUTION:At the time of drawing the slab S out from a primary cooling casting mold 1 to the guide roll 4 side through pressure contacting and detaching by the bar members 2a in the walking type slag guide device 3, the guantities of fluctuations in the height of molten metal level at the pressure contacting of the inside bars 2a and outside bars 2b are actually measured with the detector not illustrated. Next, the guantities of volume flcutuations DELTAV at the compression bonding of the inside and outside bars 2a, 2b are respectively calculated based on the fluctuation guantities DELTAH. Next, the gap correcting guantities DELTAt of the bar members 2a, 2b are obtained through separate calculation so that the abovementioned DELTAV becomes 0, after which the gap t of the bar members 2a, 2b is so mechanically adjusted as to become (t-DELTAt) or (t+DELTAt). Thus, the production of defects such as oscillation marks, etc. occuring in the fluctuations of molten steel levels is prevented.
