CONSTITUTION:The bend of rolls 2 and 3 is detected with a noncontact displacement gauge (for example, eddy current type displacement gauge) during ingot drawing. When any bend is detected, water is injected from a nozzle header 7 and nozzles 8 while the projecting side of the roll bend is away from an ingot 1, whereby the projecting side thereof is cooled and in contracted by water cooling, and the bend is corrected. It is also possible to detect the roll bend by the fluctuations in the output signals of load cells 4, 5 (in the case of static control).
