Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform an edge screw down of both end parts of a rolling material evnely, by detecting edge screw down forces exerting to both vertical rolls, and shiftint the rolls so as to make the difference between both forces to be zero. CONSTITUTION:The reacting forces against screw down are detected by means of load cells 5a, 5b, 6b, and 6b provided to both roll frames 4a and 4b when the center position of a rolling material S is deviated from the passing center line of both vertical rolling rolls, in edge rolling the material S by the vertical rolls 13a and 13b. The detected values are inputted to adders 15a and 15b and to a comparison adder 16 to compute the deviation between left and right rolling forces, and the results are transmitted to signal convertors 17a and 17b to convert the deviation into a position change, and add the change to a set roll-gap, set in adders 18a and 18b previously. Thus, servovalves 22a, etc. are controlled basing on said added result to shift piston rods 9a, etc. of cylinders 7a, etc. provided to a roll frame 4a, etc. by the same quantity in order to coincide the center between vertical rolls 13a and 13b with the center of the material S, thereby rolling the material.
