Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the processing speed of CPU and also to reduce instruction words in number by making it possible to restart access to an external unit by either indication at the time of the reception of an operation end information signal or operation end signal.
CONSTITUTION: Memory unit 10 is connected to CPU20 via an asynchronous interface and when unit 10 receives memory access request 31 from CPU20, timing circuit 11 of unit 10 sends back operation end information signal 32 and operation end signal 33 to CPU20 after fixed time. on receiving information signal 32 and end signal 33 by receiver circuits 22 and 23, CPU20 supplies its output to restart format change-over circuit 24, the output of which is inputted to microinstruction execution/ break control circuit 25. Then, control circuit 25 interrupts the execution of the next microinstruction of access request 31 and when the output restart format change-over circuit 24 is energized, the interruption is released, thereby restart the process.
