Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the charge movement between the photoconductive layer and substrate smooth and improve electrophotographic characteristics to be improved by providing a conductive polymer layer between the photoconductive layer containing photoconductor in binder and the substrate.
CONSTITUTION: The solution of polymers such as polymers of quaternary ammonium salt structure of 103 to 10Ωcm-, polystyrene sulfonate, etc. as conductive polymer is coated on a conductive substrate and is then dried, after which the coating containing photoconductor such as CdS, etc., binder (polyester, etc.) and solvent is coated thereon and is dried, whereby the photoconductive layer is formed. By improving the electrical adhesiveness of the substrate and photoconductive layer in this way, the resistance between the substrate and photoconductive layer is reduced at the exposure and the roughness of the images and the decrease in contrast are eliminated.
