Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent accumulation of residual voltage almost perfectly even in repeated use, by providing a thin layer of an acceptor substance or a donor substance in accordance with the property of a charge transfer substance between a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer.
CONSTITUTION: A charge generating layer is formed in a thickness of about 0.1 to 2.0 micrometers on a conductive layer by a proper method. When a charge transfer substance in the charge transfer layer is a donor, an acceptor substance, such as phthalic anhydride, or when the charge transfer substance is an acceptor, a donor substance, such as poly-N-vinylcarbazole, and when needed, a binding resin are dissolved in a solvent and this solution is coated and dried to form an intermediate layer of about 0.05 to 1.5 micrometer thickness. On this layer a solution consisting mainly of a donor or acceptor substance and a binding resin is coated and dried to form a charge transfer layer of about 5 to 25 micrometer thickness.
