Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the film intensity of images and make possible long-term preservation of alkaline solution and increase of its processing capacity through the use of the alkaline solution containing sodium silicate at the time of performing tanning development of the silver halide photosensitive material containing developing agent. CONSTITUTION:In the case of performing tanning development of the silver halide photosensitive material used for production of lithographic printing plates, etc., the combined use of one or more kinds of sodium silicate of NaO.nSiO2 (n is 0.5 to 4) in alkali agent such as Na2CO3, etc. at 1 to 200 g per liter of the alkali solution results in increased developing efficiency. Polyhydric alcohol is further added into the alkaline solution to improve buffer ability and enable the hardening of gelatine relief film to be made adequate. The use of such developing to be made adequate. The use of such developing solution enables the degradation in the performance of the developing solution to be prevented, reduces the decrease in pH despite large amount of processing and enables good images to be obtained.
