Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the method of reproduction process using a positive PS plate with light-sensitive property comprising O-naphthoquinondizide compound without a washing process during developing and gumming-up processes, by the use of specified developing liquid and protective gum liquid. CONSTITUTION:A light sesitive layer comprising O-naphthoquinondiazide compound is provided on a support having a hydrophile surface such as surface-treated Al. The light-sensitive lithographic-press PS plate is image-exposed and developed in alkaline aqueous solution of pH 12 to 13.5 containing preferably 2 to 6 weight % of silicate. Then, the PS plate is squeezed and the alkaline aqueous solution remaining on the plate is reduced to less than 10 ml/m<2>. Thereafter, protective gum liquid comprising arabic gum of 1 to 30 weight %, petrophile material of 0.01 to 1 weight % such as alkaline-soluble resin, acid, and water is applied. In this way, resin-sensitive property in the picture portion and the resin-insensitive property in the non-picture portion are enhanced.
