Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure certain washing effect without any evil influence upon the human body or the like, by washing the inside of a face plate panel with an aqueous solution containing alkali metal hydroxide before spreading a phosphor layer on the panel. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution 2 mixed with sodium hydroxide by about 30wt% is poured in a tank 1, and kept warm at a temperature of about 50 deg.C. Then, a face plate panel 3 is put in the solution 2 before spreading a phosphor layer on it, and applied with ultrasonic waves by an ultrasonic generator. Thereafter, the face plate panel 3 is picked out, and sodium hydroxide deposited on the peripheral surface, of the panel 3 is removed by washing. Accordingly a washing effect equal to an usual process using the aqueous solution of hydrofluoric acid can be secured without any evil influence upon the human body or production facilities, and a fluorescent screen of high quality can be made, by utilizing the characteristic of the aqueous solution of alkali metal hydroxide dissolving glass or stains of oil or the like repelling water.
