Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve an ignition and combustion at a leading side of the working chamber in a rotary piston engine of layered stream type by providing an efficient or effective feeding of new mixture to a leading side of intake operation chamber in particular in case of a low loading.
CONSTITUTION: In a rotary engine in which the first intake port 7 is made in the rotor housing 2 and the second intake port 8 is made in the side housing 3, a timing valve 17 operated via a pivotable link 18 by a cam 21 rotated in synchroneous with the eccentric shaft 11 such that the valve may be closed when the top seal is passed by is provided in the first intake port 7. When the engine is set over a predetermined load, a volume of mixture more than 70% with respect to a total volume of new mixture is fed from said port 7, and either air or lean mixture fed from the second intake port 8 may be increased or decreased in response to an increased load.
