Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve an ignition and combustion at a leading side of the working chamber in a rotary piston engine of layered stream type by providing an efficient or effective feeding of new mixture to a leading side of intake operation chamber in particular in case of a low loading.
CONSTITUTION: In a rotary engine in which the first intake port 7 is made in the rotor housing 2 and the second intake port 8 is made in the side housing 3, a timing valve 7 which is operated via a pivotal link 18 by cam 21 rotated in synchroneous with the eccentric axis 11 such that the valve may be closed when a top end seal is passed by is installed in the first intake port 7. Air-to-fuel ratio of the mixture to be fed from said first intake port 7 is set to about 10 to 16, and a volume of mixture fed from the port 7 is set to 70% or over of total volume of new mixture when the load is less than the predetermined value.
