Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid the overlap of an exhaust and a suction stroke working chambers and improve the firing characteristic and the like of a rotary piston engine, by opening each intake port for light load and medium load in right and left side housings respectively and opening an intake port for heavy load in either of the side housings.
CONSTITUTION: A suction port 10 for a light load including an idle load is opened in one 2a of side housings of a rotary piston engine, an intake port 11 for medium load and an intake port 12 for heavy load are opened in the other side housing 2b respectively, and mixed gas is led from a duplex carburettor 13 to each port 10, 12 through an intake manifold 14. The working chamber side opening portions 10a, 12a of each port 10, 12 open or close by the rotation of a rotor 3, and ports 10, 11 are set so as to open after an exhaust port closes and close together at the same time. Furthermore, the closing time of the port 12 is set at a time delayed by a set value from the closing time of the port 10, and a control valve 17 opening under heavy load condition is arranged on the port 12.
