Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an FRP molded product which has a high mechanical strength and lightness, by a method wherein an FRP molding material is pressurized by a mechanical press, and a mold is brought in proximity to a bottom dead point when the FRP molding material contracts, after the mold is stopped at a position exceeding the bottom dead point.
CONSTITUTION: A heated stamp-molding material, whose main component is thermoplastic resins including comparatively long reinforcing fibers, is stamp- molded in a mold by means of a mechanical press. The mold is brought to a stop at a position exceeding a bottom dead point, and is then brought in proximity to the bottom dead point when the stamp-molding material contracts. Where a molded product of, say, about 10mm thick is produced, a position exceeding the bottom dead point is preferably 0.1W1.0mm above the bottom dead point. An applicable mechanical press is preferably a crank press, a toggle press, etc.
