PURPOSE: To facilitate cutoff, to prevent rapid solidification even upon shortening of molding cycle at lower metallic-mold temperatures, to prevent occurrence of shrinkage, and to obtain beautiful foamed article by forming a small gate in a portion of the inside peripheral surface of a runner hole.
CONSTITUTION: A resin is pressure injected into a gate 9 constituted of a notch 8 in a cutoff pin 7; after the injection, movable-side mold plates 2 and 3 are retreated simultaneously. At this time, the gate portion is cutoff by a cutoff pin 7 because a cutoff pin 6 does not move. After cutoff of the gate portion, the pin 7 retreats together with the mold plates 2 and 3, the plate 3 parts from the plate 2, the pin 7 retreats also relative to the plate 3, and a molded article is taken out of the metallic mold. As the gate 9 is thus formed in a portion of the inside periphery of a running hole, the gate portion to be cutoff is reduced largely and the cutoff is facilitated.
