Abstract
PURPOSE: Pellets of polyolefin are filled into a mold and molten by heating under the application of vacuum to produce simply and inexpensively molded products of complicated shape.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of molded branch 1 of Y shape, Y-shaped solid body 3 that is made of, e.g., copper and has round cross section is set in Y-shaped mold 2 and the gap between them is filled with pellets of polyolefin resin 4. All of them are set into vacuum heater 5 and molding is effected by melting the resin with heating under vacuum to form insulator 10. Mold 2 is provided with plunger 6 and others on the top part to load a pressure on pellets so that the pellets can fuse with each other by heating.
