Abstract

PURPOSE: To smoothen and reinforce the sliding surface of the machinery part of an alloy by a procedure in which an aluminum film is formed on the surface of an aluminum alloy by an anodic oxidation treatment and then its surface is pressed by a hard pressing part.
CONSTITUTION: For example, the surface of a disk made of aluminum alloy (J18H 5302) die-cast ADC-12 is machined to a surface roughness of 3W8 and a size 100mm (diameter) × 5mm (thickness). The sliding parts material to be processed is washed with trichloroethylene, dried, and then subjected to an anodic oxidation treatment using 30% sulfuric acid as an electrolyte kept at 10°C and at a current density of 10A/dm2 for a treating time of 125min to obtain an aluminum oxide film of a thickness of approx. 50 microns. Then, the film thus formed is pressed by means of a roll type roller of a hardness more than that of the film at a draft of 5% to smoothen its surface, whereby obtaining a densely textured part. Thus, the machinery parts of the aluminum alloy having a wear resistance enough to withstand sliding movement can be obtained.
