Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a thick and a thin mixing regions and attain laminar combustion through a simple construction, by installing a single throttle valve in the air passage of an internal combustion engine, dividing the downstream portion of the air passage into two intake passages by a partition wall and installing a fuel injection valve in one of the intake passages.
CONSTITUTION: A throttle valve 11 is provided in an air passage 5. The downstream portion of the air passage is divided into a first and a second feed passages 12-1, 12-2 by a partition wall 13. These feed passage communicate with a laminar internal combustion engine 1 through the first and a second intake passages 2-1, 2-2 provided on the downstream side of the feed passages. The partition wall 13 is provided with a through hole 14. An injection nozzle 6 is provided in the wall of the second intake passage to inject fuel toward the hole 14. More fuel is supplied into the first intake passage 2-1 in the opening action of the throttle valve 1 to make a thick mixture. A thin mixture is made in the second intake passage 2-2.
